If you have never hired a professional pet care provider before, or if you are considering meeting with The Placid Pet to see if we would be a good fit for your pet care needs, the following information will be helpful to you.

Step 1:   Review the Web Site

Review the information available from www.placidpets.com.  The About page will tell you all about our company and our staff.  The Testimonials page and Local Choices, Local Voices ratings accessible via the Home page will give you some first-hand (direct-quote) feedback from clients.  Make sure you are comfortable with the services as they are described (Pet Sitting, Dog Walking, Pet Taxi) as well as our fee schedule (Rates), and related Web pages including Key Program.

Step 2:   Contact The Placid Pet / Initial Questions

Contact The Placid Pet via phone (360-223-3825), e-mail (info@placidpets.com), or by logging into ProfessionalPetSitter.com and completing the "Request for Information" form.

In order to provide you with an estimate for first time pet care services, we require the following information:

a. Your name.

b. Address (Street, City, State and Zip).

c. On what date, and at what time, would you like the FIRST pet care visit to be at?  (For travelers, include what date and time you will be leaving town.)

d. On what date, and at what time, would you like the LAST pet care visit to be at? (For travelers, include what date and time you are expecting to return home.)

e. How many times, each day, would you like your pets to receive care?

f. What time(s) of day would you like pet care provided?

g. How long would you like each visit to last?  (15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes)

Step 3:  Estimate

Based on the information provided via the Intial Questions, we will create and e-mail you an estimate for pet care.  The status of your schedule at this point is "Request" only, and is not confirmed.

Please let us know if you approve of the estimate, of if you would like to make changes.

Once you approve the estime, we will e-mail you the full "New Client Questionnaire."

Step 4:  New Client Questionnaire

We will also confirm pet care provider availability, and change the status of your schedule to "Confirmed" and e-mail you the confirmation.

Please note:
As of September 1, 2007, the fee for the Meet-And-Greet is set at $20 for 30-minutes. If you decide to schedule
The Placid Pet for pet care service, then the appropriate fee will be included on your first invoice. If you decide not to hire The Placid Pet, you will still be billed for time dedicated to the Meet-And-Greet.

*****

When a potential client contacts us, we ask them a set of Initial Questions, or the minimum amount of information we need to be able to put together a solid estimate for the pet care services requested. This estimate is e-mailed to the potential client for their review and acceptance.

If a potential client verbally, or in writing, accepts the estimate, then we will e-mail the client a "New Client Questionnaire" -- a detailed list of questions.  If the potential client completes the New Client Questionnaire, sends it back to us, and then cancels service without rescheduling, the cancellation fee will go into effect.

Step 3:  New Client Questionnaire

The Placid Pet will e-mail you a copy of the New Client Questionnaire.  Please complete the questionnaire and send it back as soon as possible (preferably at least 48 hours prior to the Meet-And-Greet).

Step 4:  The Meet-And-Greet

It is important that both you and your pet(s) are comfortable with your new pet care provider, and vice versa.

The Meet-And-Greet must take place in your home. If all parties -- you, your pets, and the pet care provider -- are comfortable with one another, then this meeting should also include:

  • A tour of your home including where pet supplies are stored, and those areas of the house where the pets reside
  • Note taking (by Placid Pet staff) to compliment information gathered via phone and the New Client Questionnaire.  The Placid Pet will use these notes to create a detailed "check list" -- items to be completed at each visit, replicating your pet's routine
  • Key exchange -- please see Key Program notes
Step 5:  Approve the Checklist, Client Info Report and Estimate

A draft copy of the checklist, a detailed client information report, along with a cost estimate for scheduled pet care services, will be sent via e-mail for your review.

While you are away from home, you can log into your on-line account and check to see if visits were completed, and review notes from your pet care provider.

When you return home, your copy of the completed checklist (signed by your pet sitter) will be waiting for your review. The completed checklist will show exactly when the pet sitter arrived and departed and what services were provided during each visit.

The Placid Pet routinely spends 60+ minutes of office time (above and beyond time spent in preparation for the Meet-And-Greet and during the Meet-And-Greet) inputting client data and developing each client's checklist. Additional time is also routinely spent updating checklists for the majority of our clients who are repeat customers.
